Biden’s approval rating for the economy remains at about a third, poll finds

In recent months, the Biden administration has hit hard the president’s economic policy, known as “Bidenomics,” amid falling inflation, steady job growth and diminished talk of a forthcoming recession. But it’s struggled to catch on, evidenced by the poll also finding that only 34 percent of surveyed Americans would describe the economy as very or somewhat good.

Twenty-three percent of Americans said they have a great deal of confidence in Biden’s ability to effectively manage the White House, while 31 percent had some confidence and 45 percent had hardly any.

Looking ahead to the 2024 presidential election, only 24 percent of surveyed Americans said they want Biden to run again and 30 percent said they want former President Donald Trump to run again.

The poll was conducted Aug. 10-14 among 1,165 adults and has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus 3.8 percentage points.
